Baylor Co. Jr. Livestock Show 2014

Our annual county livestock show was early this year.  It was held January 2-4.  Kade showed rabbits, goats and a heifer.

We had a horrible year with our rabbits and lost five out of eight rabbits before the show came around.  We had the three remaining ones living in our kitchen in a guinea pig cage just trying to keep them alive!  We placed in the bottom of both single classes we showed in.

We had some awesome goats this year.  They were both in the same weight class, but Kade had a friend show the doe for him.  He ended up first with his wether, Sylvester, and his friend received second with his doe, Twitty.  Sylvester ended up being Reserve Grand Champion overall.  Kade received 2nd place in the Jr. Goat Showmanship.

Our heifer project was so much fun this year.  Clint says it will probably never be this easy again.  Our Red Angus, Millie, is super gentle.  It only took us a week to halter break her and teach her to lead!  Kade received first in his class with Millie.  We were tickled with those results.  He also received 3rd place Jr. Heifer Showmanship....he had some really tough competition, so we were pumped with that placing, too.

Kade also entered the photography contest.  He and Babers went and captured some really neat scenes one Sunday afternoon.

I love how Millie has her tongue stuck out!

Our church Christmas program was December 15.  Layton was a shepherd and Kade a king.

Layton's first grade Christmas program was December 17th.

Layton's Christmas party was December 20th.

U.I.L. 2013

Kade had an awesome run at the district U.I.L contest this year.  He made five different events/teams, but had to drop one because of time conflicts on the day of the contest.  I was nervous about him being in that many contests, but he did great.  Each grade competes against other kids in the same grade.  There were seven schools competing and most all of them entered three kids in each event.  So Kade was competing against 20 other kids in each event!

ICE, ICE, Baby!

On Saturday, November 16th my parents and sister, Skye, took the boys to Grapevine for a weekend of fun.  All morning and afternoon they attended a cousin's birthday party at Great Wolf Lodge.  They, of course, loved every minute of it.  That evening they toured ICE! at the Gaylord Texan.  We have been before, but the theme is different each year, plus it is just so beautiful that you can't pass it up when you get the chance to go.  Anna got to meet up with the gang at Grapevine, too.  This made Layton very happy!  Anna is the apple of Layton's eye...she is just about 15 years older than him!
