Show Us Your Life-Master Bedroom

I have decided to participate in Kelly's Korner "Show Us Your Life" posts, which are held each Friday.  I'm by no means pleased with my house, in regards to decorating, but I thought what the heck!

Our master bedroom, bath, and sitting area are all on the second floor of our home.  We have done a lot of work in our master bedroom.  We tore all of the paneling down, retextured, and painted.  We want new flooring, but that will have to wait awhile.  I also wanted to scrape my popcorn ceilings, but that didn't happen, either.

Paneling Down--Before Texturing

We bought our furniture from my sister, Sommer, when she decided to get new furnishings.  I love the sleigh bed.

I found this shelf, which is an old fireplace mantle, in a grain bin on our property.

Clint's side of the bed and dresser.

My side of the bed.  I picked up the wall art from the dump!  It was originally the back of an old metal lawn chair.  There were two of them, so there is another one on the other side of the French doors.

I have a lot to do on our balcony patio.  I want to decorate it, etc.  I did get furniture purchased this past spring, so that completes step #1.

We have great views from our balcony patio.

This is an old dugout and storehouse in our backyard.  It is beautiful in the spring and early summer, b/c it is fully covered in greenery.

Layton Goes to Preschool

Layton began his second year of preschool on Sept. 13.  He only went a 1/2 year last year, so this will be his first complete year.  He was so excited to be going and had a blast that first day.  He colored a red apple.  Layton, your daddy and I love you so much and can't wait to see the many things you learn this year!

Kade's Catches!

This past weekend Kade had a friend over and all the boys (Kade, friend and Layton) played in our creek crossing.  They caught at least 50 minnows, some Chirp and either a small Catfish or a Pollywog.  We released all of the fish in a tank by our house.

Kade had to put his Catfish/Pollywog in a jar for a little bit.  The fish's fins cut Kade when he was trying to capture it.  He felt like a true fisherman!

We didn't get around to releasing the fish in our tank until it was almost dark.  Here you can see Clint, the boys and Ace.

On Sunday, Kade helped Layton dress up in a wild costume.  Kade said he had caught a Dinobearbull!

Gifts from Argentina

My sister, Sommer, visited Argentina and brought the boys these really cool gifts back.  They were super excited and ate all of the candy in about 10 minutes!

Here is part of the loot.  There was a lot more candy, but they ate it before I could get a picture.  Notice the rawhide whip she brought back for Layton so he can make Corndog go.

These are crayons made from tree bark.  The boys have colored with them and they work great.

This is an ankle type bracelet that she brought back for Kade.  It is made of goat hooves!  In Argentina they put these around their ankles and dance--they, of course, give off a sound like maracas.

Thanks, Aunt Sommer!

Labor Day Weekend 2010

We did a little bit of everything over the Labor Day weekend!  We were lucky enough to have company over the weekend.  Colin and Lauren came to see us!  I didn't get a lot of pictures, but we had fun dove hunting, visiting, eating good cooking (Uncle Mike's), meeting new friends, riding horses, playing with the smartest dog Kade has ever met and even treasure hunting.

Kade and Colin's dog, Jax.

Layton was so excited that Lauren wanted to ride horses.

Kade let Lauren ride his horse, Cinco, so he hung out in the buggy while the cowboys & cowgirl were getting ready for their ride.

While the others were on horseback, Kade and I took Colin to see the Geocache treasure we found about a year ago.

We found this HUGE spider one night while cooking outside.  It looks like it is hairy, but those bumps/spots are actually babies---millions of them!  They were crawling/jumping off everywhere.

First Day of School 2010

We began school on Monday, August 23.  Kade is in the 3rd grade this year and is having a wonderful time, so far!

Layton is going back to the sitter that he has always gone to.  She is the best.  I owe most of my boys' raising to her!  He will begin going to pre-school one day a week on Sept. 13th.  He is looking forward to it.  He went one day a week last year too, so it won't be a big adjustment.

I am in the library most of the day.  I have a 6th grade English course I teach in the afternoon, but other than that I'm in the library.  It's the best of both worlds!
