On February 16th, Kade attended the San Angelo Stock Show & Rodeo Meat Judging Contest with other 4-H members. I could never have participated in this contest, because I'm a baby when it comes to the cold. They stand in freezers with frozen carcasses for extended lengths of time! Kade judged six beef grading carcasses, six placing classes, answered two sets of questions, and had to complete a twenty-five question written exam. Kade or his 4-H group didn't do so hot, mainly because there were several teams of high school kids from across the state, but they had fun and it was quite an experience. Seymour FFA actually had the second place team and the highest scoring individual --- we have an awesome meat judging ag teacher!
