Busy, Busy, Busy

I don't even know where to start--basically, I think I'm overwhelmed. I started this blog with the intention of posting at least once a week, but things have been so hectic with our "small" second story update. I seriously do not see how people build a home. We are about 1/2 way done and I promise lots of pics once everything is completed. The deadline I have set for myself is June 1--so we will see.

Kade had his first machine pitch baseball game tonight. He did great! Got a hit, got on base--didn't get to score, b/c we had three outs before he could get to home, but I was proud of my little boy. I didn't even take my camera! We have another game Thursday, though, so I'll post pics after that game.

The last two weekends we have just worked on the house. The boys have spent a lot of time with Nede and with Babers and Pa-Paw the last two weekends. They are very well behaved and would do great at home with me painting, but I figured they needed a break and a little spoiling.

My sister-in-law gave me this planter set many years ago when she was cleaning out stuff. She creatively used it for holding her makeup in her bathroom and I did the same for a few years. One of the planters eventually broke, so I re purposed the planter into a pen/pencil holder using chalkboard paint.

I have had this little white desk/vanity since I was in high school. I have always had an interest in tables of any sort. I have them spread throughout my house here and there. They are not all decorated to my heart's content, but I'm slowly getting there. I wanted a little desk in our kitchen, so I painted the top drawers red and mod podged vintage cowboy scrapbook paper to the bottom drawers. So far, I'm loving it! I want to do something to the top of the desk, but haven't decided what just yet.

All over blog world ladies are taking their plain, old bathroom mirrors and building frames for them. So, I decided to do the same! I did put a personal spin on the project, however, and cut my own corner blocks, rather than buy them. I mod podged scrapbook paper to the blocks and plan to just change them out as the bathroom theme changes (this is our boys' bathroom and the bathroom that any guests in our home use). I simply Velcroed the trim to the mirror, so it will be easy to take down and paint over time, too. Clint was amazed by the transformation, which made me so happy. He usually doesn't even notice my decorating changes.

I have an old set of wicker chairs that have seen better days, so I've slowly been working on scraping the paint and repainting them with black spray paint. I had the boys help me blow the old paint off with the air compressor. They claimed the chipped paint hurt when it hit them, so they wore Clint's welding helmets. They were a big help!
