Leopard Corkboard

This past Sunday, Layton and I tackled a project that I have been putting off for about two months now. I have been wanting a corkboard similar to the ones you see in Ballard Designs--the ones with the chunky frames. So, I sent a fellow teacher on the hunt for a frame--he garage sales every weekend and finds the neatest stuff. He found one for me at an estate sale and then insisted I take it for FREE--he claims he didn't pay anything--Haney, if you ever read this, Thank You. There was a portrait in it--my kids think it was me when I was little. So, Layton and I put the corkboard on the backside of the portrait, stretched the fabric over it and then screwed it into the frame. I liked the color of the frame, so I didn't even have to paint it. I hung it next to my desk. It doesn't look as nice as the ones you see in Ballard Designs, but Layton and I are proud of it!

  1. Wow, the cork board looks great!!! I love Ballards.
Thanks for the Gaylord info-I hadn't checked my email yet. I heard an advertisement for them the other day. I think they have several activities including men on stilts. If you haven't been at Christmas time it is a MUST!!! We took Lyndon two years ago and also went the ICE exhibit which is fabulous!!! I am thinking you might have a blog post from your trip. If not, the decorations are wonderful and they even have a real reindeer to pose for a picture with.
I would love to help you pick out a color. Seeing your house and upstairs redo will give me inspirations to get some stuff done around here!
I agree the garage sale trip sounds great! Pick a day and I am game. We can take Cody's flatbed which would be great for anything large and he has plenty of bungees! Now I am off to the Habitat website. You are too good I would have never thought they even had a website. I will be in WF tomorrow and Thursday as well and it will be funny if we run into each other.
Shopping, Decorating, and retiring sounds VERY appealing!!!

  2. I'm so glad you are reading the blog. I have followed yours too. It is amazing how much your little one looks like Clint. I hope he acts just like him!! If ya'll ever come up to Stratford, you should give us a call. Have a great summer.

  3. I got to thinking after I visited with you at Hobby Lobby that I threw our old swimming pool pump in the dump last year, b/c we knew we needed a new pool. Cody went and dug it out for me and will bring it to The Tractor Shop tomorrow if you or Clint want to pick it up, you can have it. Maybe it will get you through the summer and then you can find a great deal on a pool.
